6 Month Plus Two
The students have to participate in the examination conducted by National Institute of Open School, a central government venture in every April and October. They are eligible to apply for all courses and jobs that are applicable to those who passed the State government’s Plus Two. Those who successfully complete the course are eligible for the Medical, Engineering, IT courses as well as any other professional courses. All Indian universities accept our courses. The importance of Plus Two is increasing as it is the basic requirement of many jobs including those applicable through PSC. Those who pass this course are eligible to apply for both state and central government jobs.The students who discontinued Plus Two or Pree Degree Or PUC due to various reasons can appear for the exam and complete it successfully within a year. Plus Two courses can be done as correspondence courses. These courses are accredited by both central and state government, there is no age limit. Plustwo can be completed within six months or one year.

There are 13 subjects including language subjects. Out of which a candidate can select 5 subjects. 2 language subjects are compulsory. The remaining 3 can be chosen as the candidate wishes. Except the language subjects, all the other exams can be written in English or Malayalam.

It is to be ed that the candidates opting for Science and Technology, Home Science and Data Entry Operations groups will have both theory and practical exams This course is equivalent to 10th standard of the formal schooling system. One can join this course irrespective of any formal pre-qualification. Successful completion of minimum of five subjects is necessary for obtaining a certificate. Wide range of subjects is available to choose from. The course may be completed in a minimum period of 6 Months to a maximum of 5 years. As per the condition prescribed by the Government of Kerala, English, Malayalam, Maths, Science and Social Science or Psychology are to be studied.

About NIOS
NIOS is an "open school" to cater to the needs of a heterogeneous group of learners up to the pre-level level. It was started in 1979 as a project with flexibility built by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). In 1986, the National Policy on Education suggested strengthening the open school system to expand open learning facilities at the secondary level in a phased manner. Leading to certification as an independent system with its own curriculum and exams throughout the country. Consequently, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India established the National Open School (NOS) in November 1989. CBSE's pilot project on NOS was amalgamated with NOS. Through a resolution (No. F.5-24 / 90 Sch.3 dated 14 September 1990, published in the Gazette of India, 20 October 1990), to register, examine and certify the National Open School (NOS) Was vested with authority. Students registered it up to pre-degree level courses. In July 2002, the Ministry of Human Resource Development amended the naming of the organization from the National Open School (NOS) to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a mission to provide relevant continuing education at the school level. At the secondary and senior secondary levels, NIOS provides flexibility to enable continuity of learners in subjects / courses, speed of learning and transfer of credits from CBSE to some Board of School Education and State Open Schools. A learner is expanded to have nine opportunities to appear in public examinations spanning a period of five years. Learning strategies include; Printed self-instructional materials, learning through audio and video programs, personal contact programs (PCPs), and participation in tutor marked assignments (TMAs).
